The PLUS Network Difference

Our approach is to encourage LONG-TERM integrated planning, with a focus on short-term, results-oriented sustainable projects.

  • We are small enough to be able to respond to our members' needs and requests on a one-to-one basis, in a more personal and effective way.
  • By having members from all over the world—representing cities of different sizes and at different stages in their process—participants are able to recognize and learn from one another's common issues.
  • We provide a comfortable atmosphere (in particular at our Peer Exchanges) conducive to learning and sharing, where members can meet others facing similar challenges. The Peer Exchanges are gatherings of supportive, open-minded people—people who may not have solutions to every problem, but who share a willingness to search for and create those solutions.
  • The PLUS Network constantly creates and re-creates itself. It is flexible in the sense of being open to trying new ideas. We regularly experiment with new methods of support for our city members (for example, providing interns and urban professionals for short- and medium-term work periods, offering suggestions around particular issues, helping with procurement of projects funding, supplying promotional messages for meetings and conferences).
