The Sustainable Cities: PLUS Network is made up of over 40 cities, towns, regions and communities in developed and developing countries sharing experiences, best practices, expertise, tools and learning about long–term planning for urban sustainability. PLUS stands for Partners for Long-term Urban Sustainability.
The purpose of the PLUS Network is to help transform the way cities look at their current planning decisions by integrating them in the context of sustainability and placing them in a much longer timeframe – three generations.
The PLUS Network promotes peer dialogue, enabling member communities to learn from other members’ successes and setbacks. Participating cities document and share their experiences and tools through web-based discussions, face-to-face meetings, and reporting on their learning at various international events. Through this experience, cities are becoming better planned and managed.
