Project Description
Commonwealth Heritage Resource Management Ltd. enlisted ICSC to help with a conservation and development plan for the Shaohao Mausoleum in Qufu, Shandong Province. The Mausoleum, which is located near four villages, agricultural land and an industrial site, dates back 1,000 years, to the Song Dynasty. It neighbours Qufu – the burial place of Confucius’s descendants and is associated with two important historical figures – the Yellow Emperor and Shaohao. ICSC’s contribution to the project was the social impact assessment of the effects of development on the four villages. A development plan, sensitive to the needs of all the stakeholders was provided, and included: site development options, a visitor centre, visitor activities, marketing, investment and management strategies
