Project Description
The ICSC and Envision Sustainability Tools Inc. (ESTI) traveled to Warsaw to conduct a demonstration of the QUEST computer simulation technology. QUEST is an innovative computer software tool that facilitates debate and discussion among a variety of stakeholders about regional sustainability. A technology demonstration workshop was held in June 2000 and was attended by key personnel from the City of Warsaw. A further demonstration was held for the Silesia Marshall's Office and representatives from Lodz, Wroclaw, Poznan, Rzeszow, Krakow and Bygdoszcz. The objective was to introduce QUEST as a public engagement tool across Poland. The development and implementation of a region-specific QUEST process explicitly addressed a range of environmental priorities including: recycling, water and energy conservation, wastewater collection and treatment, air and water pollution, waste reduction, and climate change. The demonstrations were supported by a grant from Industry Canada’s Environmental Technology Demonstration Fund.
