Project Description

At the request of the Simon’s Foundation, ICSC served on the Joint Steering Committee for the World Peace Forum 2006, held immediately following the World Urban Forum. In contrast to the WUF which was government led, the WPF was led by civil society groups. ICSC provided advice on management, fund raising and program. The theme of the WPF was “Cities and communities working together to build a just, peaceful and sustainable world”. The event attracted over 5000 participants from all over the world in rich dialogue sessions. It was the first attempt to bridge the peace, human rights, and women’s, indigenous and environmental movements.
